Sports In addition to a physical fitness class each week, Mount Merici has formed a seasonal running club, basketball program, and soccer program. We address good sportsmanship, team play, and basic skills. The Program is for students in grades 3 through 6. Basketball season includes an intramural program for third and fourth graders, and both boys' and girls' "travel teams" for fifth and sixth graders. In the spring there is the "Running Club" also open to interested parents and staff. Younger children are welcome as "junior runners." Each year close to 100% of the eligible students participate in at least one of these activities. Ms. Donna Russo is the Athletic Director and coach (Ms. Russo is a competitive runner and has run in several marathons). |

Violin Mount Merici has received a grant through the Oak Grove School Foundation and students in fourth grade are introduced to the violin. They meet once a week for three months and the program finale is a performance at an assembly attended by the entire student body. Students who wish may continue these lessons at a very reasonable fee. They meet for private or group lessons before or after school. Through this grant the school has acquired bells. The sixth graders from a bell choir and perform at Masses and on other special occasions. |
