Mount Merici is fully administered and staffed by a dedicated lay principal and Maine State Certified faculty. Offering Christian-centered programs of academic excellence, our faculty's mission is to nurture the "full development of each child's God given potentials of intellect, will, and heart… the formation of the whole person."

Mount Merici Academy is fortunate to have caring, committed individuals serving in a completely voluntary capacity as directors of our school. Members exist to support the educational mission and philosophy of MMS. The Board has fudiciary responsibilities, implements the School's vision through strategic planning and supports its leadership.
The Board composition is a strong, balanced blend of skills and experience, allowing members to offer guidance in core areas important to our school. Regular meetings of the Board of Directors and Standing Committees are held monthly.
Rev. Daniel joined the Board in 2009 and serves on the Academic Affairs Committee. Fr. Dan is Parochial Vicar at Corpus Christi Parish and is Chaplain at Mount Merici Academy. He earned a degree in education and served in multiple roles as a teacher, administrator, coach and director of musical theatre before studying to become a priest at Blessed John XXIII Seminary. Fr. Dan lives in Waterville.
Jody Boulet joined the MMA Board in 2010 and serves on the Academic Affairs Committee. Boulet has a degree in elementary education and experience teaching second and third grade in Mercer and Skowhegan. She is an active volunteer at Mount Merici Academy and in the community. Boulet and her husband, Mike, reside in Fairfield with their children Sophie, Yanic and Zane.
Brent Burger joined the MMS Board in 2010 and serves on the Development Committee. Burger owns and operates six stores in central Maine, including Campbell's Agway True Value, Campbell's Building Supply and Val-U-Energy. He also serves as a board member at The Alfond Youth Center, on the corporate board for True Value Company and is Vice President of True Value Foundation. Burger and his family reside in Oakland.
Robert Callahan was elected to the Board in 2010, joining the Academic Affairs and the Recruitment and Retention committees. Callahan is Vice President for Enrollment Management at Thomas College in Waterville. He has more than 18 years of professional experience in higher education, including nine years as a senior level administrator. Rob also serves on the Maine Higher Education Advisory Board. Rob and his wife, Carolyn, have two children, Jonathan and Katelyn. The Callahan family lives in Oakland.
Mark Durkee joined the MMA Board in 2010 and serves on the Finance Committee. Durkee, a mechanical engineer, is a Project Manager at Sappi Fine Paper. He and his wife, Julie, live in Oakland with their two children, Olivia and William.
Karen joined the Mount Merici Board of Directors in 2008 and serves on the Finance Committee. Karen also serves on the Board of the Waterville Women's Club (Auditor) and the Board of the Kennebec Montessori School (Treasurer). She most recently served as Head of School at Kennebec Montessori School and works as a part-time fitness instructor at Champions Fitness Center in Waterville. Karen and her husband Mark have two children, Katie and Jack. The Thompson Family lives in Waterville.
Lori joined the MMA Board in 2009 and serves on the Development Committee. Gervais is an advertising account executive for the Morning Sentinel in Waterville. She is an active volunteer at the school and also serves as a member of the promotions committee for Waterville Main Street. Gervais is a resident of Waterville with her husband, Derek, and their two children, Olivia and Madison.
Scott joined the Board in 2009 and serves on the Finance Committee as well as the Recruitment and Retention Committees. Jones is Assistant Vice President of Finance at Colby College. He serves as treasurer and a coach for Waterville Youth Soccer Association, treasurer and finance chair on the Board of the United Way of Mid Maine, co-chair of the Promoting Independence Community Impact Team and is a Boy Scouts volunteer. He and his wife, Juli, live in Waterville with their three children Spencer, Olivia and Carter.
Mike joined the Mount Merici Academy Board in 2008. He serves on the Board's Finance Committee. Mike is Vice President of Hammond Lumber Company. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association. He and his wife, Amy, have two daughters, Mercedes and Bethany. The Hammond Family resides in Belgrade.
Sr. Angela is a resident of Ursuline Provincialate in Dedham, Massachusetts. She is Provincial Prioress of the Ursulines of the Northeast Province. In her role on the school’s Board of Directors, Sr. Angela is a member of the Finance Committee.
Stephanie is a family practitioner at Four Seasons Family Practice in Fairfield. Stephanie joined the MMS Board in 2008 and serves on the Development Committee as well as the Recruitment and Retention Committees. She is a Catechist at St. Theresa's Parish. Stephanie and her husband, Chuck, have three children: Aidan, Fern and Molly. The Calkins live in Oakland.
Susan is Principal of Mount Merici Academy, a position she has held since 1995. She is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and serves on all Board committees. Mrs. Cote lives in Waterville with her husband, Paul. They have three children: Paul, Patrick and Elizabeth (Mount Merici class of 1996) and three grandchildren. Mrs. Cote is a Eucharistic Minister for the Corpus Christi Parish.
Todd was elected to the Board in 2009 and serves on the Development Committee. Smith is the owner of TSSD Services, Inc., a professional staffing company specializing in project management in the nuclear power industry. He is the Director of Business Operations at Connecticut Yankee, Yankee Rowe and Maine Yankee. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Thomas College and is a volunteer coach for Waterville Youth Soccer Association. Smith is a resident of Oakland with his wife, Kelly, and their two children, Cole and Hunter.
Danielle joined the MMA Board in 2007. She serves as Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Nominating Committee. Danielle is an audit manager for PFBF, CPAs. She is also a member of The American Institute and The Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants. Danielle and her husband, Troy, live in Waterville with their daughter, Gabrielle.
Linda joined the Board in 2009 and serves on the Academic Affairs Committee. Vitale has over 25 years of experience in education, most recently serving as a grade 6 teacher at Albion Elementary School, where she taught for 23 years. She is a member of Corpus Christi Parish, a trustee at the Albion Public Library and is an active volunteer with Boy Scouts of America and the Lions Club. She and her husband, Vite, live in Albion. They have three grown children and seven grandchildren.
