Childcare Services
Mount Merici Academy recognizes that many students have parents who are both working and have busy lives. To help our families, we offer morning childcare services, after school care, summer day care, as well as some services for child care during school holidays and school vacations. Here, your child will be in a safe, loving environment, with lots of fun activities!
During the school year, students work on homework and study for part of the session, balancing the rest of their time with games, outdoor play and lots of time with friends! Summer care is loaded with fun activities, including bike riding, water activities, field trips and more.
During the School Year
Morning Childcare is available for all students from 7 to 7:20 a.m. Childcare continues for Nursery School students until 9 a.m., when they begin class.
Extended Care for Nursery School and Pre-Kindergarten students when those programs conclude is available until 5:30 p.m. each day. The children will go to lunch and recess and then return to their classroom for a one-hour rest period. Hot lunch is available daily or children may bring a lunch from home. Milk/juice is also available on a daily basis. The weekly menu for hot lunch is included in the Mount Merici Family Newsletter and posted on our website.
After School Care is provided for all students Monday – Friday, from 1:45 to 5:30 p.m.
Fees:
There is a $30 annual registration fee per student who enrolls in the Mount Merici Academy Childcare Program.
Hourly Fees:
$2.50 per hour for the extended Nursery School or Pre-K
$3.50 per hour for 1 child in Kindergarten through Grade 6
$4.75 per hour for 2 children
$5.50 per hour for 3 children
$6.30 per hour for 4 children
There is a minimum one-hour charge, and then charges are calculated in 30-minute increments on a daily basis.
What if my child participates in an after school activity?
If your child attends a MMA activity after school (Basketball, Soccer, Running Club), you will be billed from the time the child enters the Day Care Room after the activity. For all other non-MMA activities (Art, Scouting, Yoga) you will be billed from school dismissal time (only if your child attends after school care after the activity.)
When am I billed?
The amount due is payable on each Monday for the previous five child care days. Anyone wishing to make different arrangements for payment may do so by discussing their plans with the school bookkeeper and by providing a written plan. Payment plans must be approved on a yearly basis. It is preferred to receive checks since an automatic and evident paper trail is generated which is a tremendous help in keeping financial records.
What happens when my child is picked up after 5:30 p.m.?
Extended Child Care is open until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is expected that all children will be picked up before the 5:30 p.m. closing time. Late pick ups are assessed a $5 fee for each child picked up after 5:30 p.m., and an additional $5 for each child will be added for every 15 minute period thereafter, in addition to the hourly rate.
Registration:
All students must be pre-registered to attend any child care programs. Student attendance can vary from week to week. To ensure proper staffing, a note must be sent to the office to indicate any changes at the beginning of each week.
Please note: In situations when a child may be unsure and we do not have a defined schedule, we will keep your child in Extended Care and notify you.
Holiday and Vacation Care
Child care is available for some school holidays and for specific days during school vacations. A schedule is available at the school office. Hourly after school childcare rates apply.
Summer Day Care
Fees:
The Summer Day Care Program is entirely financed by the fees charged for child care. Regular and prompt payment will assure the continuation of personnel and provision of supplies and equipment. The registration fee is $30 for the school year.
Hourly Rates:
$3.50 per hour for 1 child
$4.75 per hour for 2 children in the same family.
$5.50 per hour for 3 children in the same family.
$6.30 per hour for 4 children in the same family.
There is a minimum one-hour charge, and then charges are calculated in 30-minute increments on a daily basis. A 24-hour cancellation/and or time change notice is required or families are charged for the scheduled time.
When are payments due?
Child care fees are due weekly. Parents wishing to make different arrangements for payment may do so by discussing their plans with the school bookkeeper and provide the plan in writing. Please make checks payable to Mount Merici Academy.

Lunch and Snacks:
Each child must provide his/her own lunch and both a morning and an afternoon snack.
